TRENDS | Men | THE NEW MASCULINITY HAS A FEMININE TWIST | by Robyn Germanese | It was not so long ago that men dressed in bright colors, wore heels, makeup, and sumptuous fabrics. That changed and now we see men caring more then their fathers and grandfathers did about fashion. Some designers are taking care of this niche. Take Andrea Pompilio, JW Anderson and Meadham Kirchoff, for instance, who are tirelessly breaking boundaries in men’s wear, to bring upon a new frontier where it is acceptable, and appreciated when a man takes effort, and expresses his individuality.
During Andrea Pompilio’s fall 2013, menswear show (at Pitti Uomo, Florence), it took nine female models to walk the catwalk before any men showed up. Bejeweled hats, color pops, and tassel scarfs completed the effeminate men’s wear collection. Whereas, JW Anderson continues to blur genders with his ruffle shorts and sheath dresses exposing knee and décolletage. Lastly, Meadham Kirchoff gives us a miasma of color in his hyper tech, gypsy fortune- teller, languid artist (cf. previous post on Meadham Kirchoff latest collection).

Street Style at the Casino | Trends | The casino culture is getting younger and younger as casino games are losing a lot of the stigma from past years. As such, you see a lot more street style among the players inside the casino. Below are some examples of some street style you may run across as well as some inspiring shots from the past.

Check out Paul Pierce at the WSOP or shall we call the "poker baller". He has a very hip yet casual look to him. His type of outfit would be great for the poker games where image is everything. His image gives off that he is here to play and could literally be playing any two cards at the table.

Our favourite outfits for our night at the casino were shot in Barcelona last November. Inspiring?

Men's Fashion Week SS2013 | Raf's mini-shorts or Jil's baggy bermudas? | Jil Sander and Raf Simons presented their menswear collection SS2013 in Milan and Paris respectively. Unsurprisinlgy, both turned out flawless with clean tailoring and interesting play on proportion, mixing formal and sporty. Their visions did differ though on the length of their boys' shorts. Raf Simons showcased mini-shorts with provocative slits while Jil Sander opted for baggy shorts falling just below the knee.
And you? Which side are you on?

Resort 2013 | The Resort collections used to be designed for joining the luggage of elegant women going on holidays to some sunny and glamour destinations. Nowadays, they are comparable to "pre-collections" and reveal in spring what we will find on the shelves in automn. It's a way to position upcoming collections and to keep up the frenzied pace of high street brands like Zara and H&M.
Resort collections are generally more affordable and a tad sober than the ones showed at Fashion Weeks.
